WK LegalIndependent Legal Advice

For professionals

A straightforward referral route for your clients.

When a client needs independent legal advice or a document reviewed by someone outside your firm, this is the fastest way to find out whether we can take it on.

Who we work with

Where referrals usually come from

Conveyancers and property solicitors

Where you cannot advise an occupier, guarantor or contributing party because you already act in the transaction.

Mortgage and commercial finance brokers

Where a lender has made independent advice a condition and your client needs it arranged quickly.

Accountants

Where a director client has been sent a personal guarantee, or a commercial agreement needs reviewing before signature.

Insolvency practitioners

Where a director or connected party requires separate advice on guarantees or security.

Company formation and corporate service providers

Where clients need Companies House identity verification, or advice on documents attached to a corporate transaction.

Other solicitors

Where a conflict or an independence requirement means the advice must come from outside your firm.

What to expect

What a referral gets you

  • A straight answer on whether we can assist

Including where the answer is no. Lender requirements sometimes exclude us, and you will hear that quickly rather than late.

  • Scope and fee confirmed in writing

Your client knows what they are paying and what it covers before anything starts.

  • Direct solicitor involvement

The solicitor who reads the document is the one who advises your client.

  • A document-led process

We work from the actual paperwork and the actual requirements, not from a description of them.

  • Updates where consent permits

We will keep you informed of progress to the extent your client has agreed we may.

  • Remote appointments where appropriate

Subject to identity checks, the document and whether the requesting party accepts a remote process.

We do not pay referral fees and do not ask for them. Where any arrangement would require disclosure to your client, it will be disclosed.
